Aicon Gallery specialises in modern and contemporary non-Western art with a special focus on South Asia. The New York gallery founded in 2001 by Projjal and Prajit Dutta, provides a platform for modern and contemporary artists from South Asia, the Middle East and Africa, to realise their vision in a global and ever-shifting world. The gallery presents a program of curated group exhibitions that are international in their scope and ambition. In solo shows, Aicon has exhibited the work of established artists such as M. F. Husain, F. N. Souza, Rasheed Araeen, Rachid Koraichi, Rekha Rodwittiya and S. H. Raza, as well as younger artists, such as Abdullah Syed, Abir Karmakar, Salman Toor, Adeela Suleman, and G. R. Iranna. The gallery has collaborated with museums like the Art Institute, Chicago; Guggenheim Museum, New York; Kiran Nadar Museum, New Delhi; Asian Art Museum, San Francisco; Jewish Museum, New York and the Louvre, Abu Dhabi.
