MAGNIN-A was founded in 2009 by André Magnin to further develop artists’ careers within the contemporary African art market. MAGNIN-A represents established, young and emerging artists from across the African continent. Magnin began his research in contemporary non-Western art for the seminal exhibition Magiciens de la Terre, Centre Pompidou and Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, for which he was the assistant curator. From 1989 to 2009, he constituted the Pigozzi Collection, one of the largest private collections of contemporary African art. He has curated a number of monographic and group exhibitions at museums, foundations and arts centres across Europe and America. As a specialist in the field, Magnin has published books and articles and continues to curate exhibitions alongside his commercial activity.
