Worldwide FM (Special Project)

Robi Walters and Gilles Peterson for Worldwide FM, 2016, Photograph by Dave O'Donnell

Worldwide FM Radio x Robi Walters

Launched in June 2016 by DJ and radio host Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM is a global music radio platform that features a handpicked roster of the finest DJs and selectors across five continents. The station streams from the Brownswood Basement radio studio hub in North London, incorporating the perspectives of internationally based DJs who stream remotely from their own studios. Worldwide FM has hosted world-class artists from across the musical spectrum, including spoken word artist Saul Williams, hop veteran Pharaoh Monch and South African jazz legend Abdullah Ibrahim. Secondary broadcast studios in Los Angeles and Tokyo will be incorporated in 2017.

For 1:54, artist Robi Walters and Worldwide FM present a collaborative project that integrates visual and sonic art forms. During the first three days of the fair, Worldwide FM will broadcast on location, featuring DJs and musicians from the African Diaspora, and conduct artist interviews. Work by Robi Walters will be featured in the broadcast room, with his book, 365: Every Day Counts, available for purchase in the bookshop.
