Jackie Karuti works with installation, video and performance to explore themes of death, sexuality, identity and urban culture. Her work explores the depths of possibility enabled by speculative worlds.

Karuti is the 2017 recipient of the Young Artist Award at Cape Town Art Fair, Cape Town and an alumna of the Gasworks’ residency programme in London, as well as Asiko, which operates as an alternative art school hosted in different African cities. Selected exhibitions of Karuti’s work include There Are Worlds Out There They Never Told You About, Goethe Institute, Nairobi (2016) and Labyrinth, Kuona Trust, Nairobi (2015).
