Gemuce’s artistic enquiry is primarily a therapeutic one, using a diverse range of media to meditate on the essences of human compassion and expression. Gemuce studied Mural Paintings at Kiev Academy of Fine Arts, Ukraine and Cultural Management at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, France, graduating in 2001. In 2009, he undertook a residency at Deveron Projects in Huntly, Scotland. The culminating performance, Money Crunch, explored the wider geopolitical impact of personal and national debt crises and a ‘culture of credit’ intensified by the financial crash of 2007.

His work has since been exhibited widely in Maputo, Rio de Janeiro, Helsinki Lisbon, Oslo, Berlin and many other cities. More recently, Alignment of Values – an exhibition that developed out of a collaborative research project with the Berlin-based anthropologist Vanessa Diaz Rivas – was held at Tiwani Contemporary, London (2014). Gemuce’s work (2016), from the recent art project, Pedalando, has also been translated into a porcelain series by Vista Alegre, a Portuguese manufacturer founded in 1824.
