A founding member of the Contemporary Art Movement in Maputo, Celestino Mudaulane holds a degree in History from the University Eduardo Mondlane. Since 1993, he has taught ceramics, drawing and visual education at the School of Visual Arts. He also teaches drawing, arts, skills and visual education at the Institute Nilia.
Mudaulane’s work has been featured in various exhibitions, including Contested Territories at Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Programs (DGCP), New York City (2012); Distância e Proximidades (Distances and Proximities) at Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, Portugal (2008); Mudaulane II, Maputo, Mozambique (2005) and in that same year he was part of ARCO art fair in Madrid, Spain. Mudaulane is a two time recipient of the Ceramics Award at the Biennial TDM (2003, 2005). In addition in 1999 he was recipient of the ceramics award in the Annual Exhibition of the National Art Museum Foundation Alberto Chissano (Consecration sculpture).
