1-54 Media Partners

Ahead of our third edition of 1:54 Contemporary African art Fair in London, we are pleased to announce our partnership with a number of leading media organisations ranging from international art publications to more specialized magazines, focusing on African art.

As one of the world’s pioneering international contemporary art magazines, since 1949 ArtReview has strived to expand the reach and audiences of contemporary Art. This year they will be supporting 1:54 in expanding the reach of contemporary African art, having already partnered with the fair in London in 2014 and for its first New York edition in May 2015. ArtReview will have a desk at 1:54 Bookshop in 2015, where visitors will be able to learn more about the magazine.

Also partnering with 1:54 are a number of Africa specific media organisations, the first of which is NewAfrican which has supported 1:54 since the inaugural fair in 2013. NewAfrican has established itself as a magazine devoted to critical debate on African issues. Through creating an innovative African perspective to international reporting on Africa, the magazine delivers relevant and fresh content. Crucially NewAfrican brings Africa closer to the world and offers insight into the diversity of Africa.

A notable platform partnering with 1:54 is Art Africa, a diverse and experimental print and digital publication with additional online spaces. As an instrument initiated to focus on African culture, creativity and the visual arts, Art Africa is committed to innovating in arts publishing and in artistic and literary production.

DIPTYK is a Francophone magazine established in 2009 in Morocco. The magazine offers a unique perspective and unparalleled insight into on the contemporary art scene in North Africa and the Arab world in general. Offering coverage or relevant events relating to art from the Arab world, the magazine also provides space for exchange and contribution from artists, authors and curators captivated by the region.

Additional media support to 1:54 will be provided by True Africa and The Africa Channel. True Africa is a new media-technology space that lends itself to discussion on areas as diverse as culture, music, fashion and technology in Africa and the African diaspora. Through connecting audiences with discourse from and on Africa and its diaspora, True Africa champions young African voices all over the world.

Based in London, The Africa Channel is the premier international general entertainment television network inspired by Africa and dedicated to broadcasting dynamic programming to many audiences. The Africa Channel will be broadcasting 1:54 adverts everyday until the fair starts, so be sure to look out for them!
